/ SEO Agents

Your AI needs more than your copy-pasted spreadsheet.

Most AI SEO tools work the same way: you export a CSV, open a chat window, paste the data, explain what each column means, and hope the 1,000-row sample covers what you actually need to know. When the session ends, the AI forgets everything. That SEO Agent connects Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor directly to your Google Search Console, GA4, and PageSpeed data via MCP. Your AI calls the tools it needs. No exports. No context-setting from scratch.

What makes an AI tool an actual SEO agent

Most tools marketed as "AI for SEO" are general-purpose chat interfaces with SEO-themed prompts. The workflow is always the same: you export your data from GSC or GA4, paste it into a chat window, explain what each column means, describe the problem you're trying to solve, and receive analysis. When the session ends, the context disappears. Next time, you start from scratch.

That's not an agent. It's a prompt interface. The AI has no connection to your data. It only knows what you paste. It can't ask follow-up questions without requiring a new export. It can't cross-reference your ranking data with your Core Web Vitals because those come from separate systems you'd have to export and merge yourself.

An SEO agent has tools. Tools that connect to your data sources directly and call them during a conversation. When you ask which pages are ranking 8-15 with high impressions and low CTR, a real SEO agent doesn't need a spreadsheet from you. It queries your Search Console API, applies the filters, paginates past the 1,000-row UI limit, and returns the actual answer. Same session, same context, ready for a follow-up.

That SEO Agent is an MCP server with 57 tools. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the standard that lets AI clients like Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor call external tools mid-conversation. Connect once, and your AI has live access to your GSC data, your GA4 reports, your PageSpeed scores, and the ability to crawl any URL on demand.

The 57 tools, by category

GSC Core (6 tools) covers query performance, indexing status, and sitemap health: the basic record of how Google sees your site. GSC Advanced (21 tools) handles the analyses that take 30+ minutes manually: traffic drop detection, rising query identification, cannibalization across pages competing for the same keywords, and featured snippet gap analysis. These require combining dimensions and filtering across large datasets. The agent handles them with a single question.

Google Analytics 4 (8 tools) covers custom reports, real-time visitor data, and AI search traffic. That last one tells you how much of your traffic is coming from ChatGPT, Perplexity, and similar engines. Technical SEO (15 tools) runs Core Web Vitals checks, validates structured data against Schema.org specifications, scores your content for E-E-A-T signals, and returns a GEO score measuring how likely AI search engines are to cite your page.

Site Management (7 tools) handles tasks you'd otherwise track in a spreadsheet: action items you can assign and monitor, shareable audit reports for clients or teammates, and access to your last full site audit. The full site audit runs 11 checks across every page the crawler finds, including robots.txt validation, security headers, and hreflang checks that go beyond single-page analysis.

For individual pages, the agent runs 8 checks in parallel: on-page SEO, schema detection and validation, content analysis, crawlability audit, E-E-A-T score, GEO score, and PageSpeed for both mobile and desktop. Most complete in under 2 minutes. Results land directly in the conversation. When you ask what to fix first, the data is already there.

exports. Just a question.
Finding pages that rank 8-15 with high impressions and low CTR used to mean exporting filtered GSC data, sorting it in a spreadsheet, and manually cross-referencing against your page list. With That SEO Agent connected to your MCP client, it's one question. The agent queries the API, applies the filters, and returns the results in the same session you're already in.

Manual SEO analysis versus an SEO agent

Without an SEO agent
  1. 01Open GSC. Export up to 1,000 rows for one filter combination.
  2. 02Open GA4. Export session and conversion data separately.
  3. 03Run PageSpeed manually for the URL you want to analyze.
  4. 04Open Claude or ChatGPT. Start a new session.
  5. 05Paste each export. Explain what the data represents and what you're trying to find.
  6. 06Get analysis based on incomplete, manually assembled data.
  7. 07Need a different filter or date range? Start the whole process over.
30-60 minutes per analysis cycle. Data is a capped sample. Context resets every session.
With That SEO Agent
  1. 01Open Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor, whichever you already use.
  2. 02Ask in plain language: 'What's hurting traffic on example.com/my-page?'
  3. 03The agent queries GSC, runs a page audit, and pulls PageSpeed data in parallel.
  4. 04You get ranked findings with the data behind each one.
  5. 05Ask follow-up questions. The session context stays intact throughout.
Under 2 minutes for a page audit. Full GSC dataset, not a 1,000-row sample. No re-exporting.

How to set up your SEO agent

STEP 01
Connect your Google account
Sign in with Google to connect Google Search Console and Google Analytics 4 using your existing OAuth permissions. Your site registers automatically the first time your agent audits it. The connection is read-only. That SEO Agent cannot modify your GSC settings, submit URLs, or change any data. Your credentials stay with Google.
STEP 02
Generate an API key
In your dashboard, generate an API key (format: sea_xxxx). Copy it when it appears. It's only shown once. This key authenticates your MCP connection with That SEO Agent.
STEP 03
Add the MCP server to your AI client
Paste the MCP config snippet into your AI client settings. Works with Claude (claude.ai and Claude Desktop), ChatGPT, Cursor, and Windsurf. Then ask: 'Audit example.com/my-page' or 'Which of my pages are losing ranking position?' The agent calls the right tools and answers from your live data.
FAQ

Common questions

What's the difference between That SEO Agent and other AI SEO tools?

Most AI SEO tools are either chat interfaces where you paste your own data, or dashboards with a chat box added on top. That SEO Agent is an MCP server. Your existing AI client calls it as a set of tools. The AI has live access to your Google data instead of working from whatever you manually provide. The analysis starts from your actual numbers, not from a pasted snapshot.

Which AI clients does it work with?

Any MCP-compatible client: Claude (claude.ai and Claude Desktop), ChatGPT, Cursor, and Windsurf. You add a single JSON config block and the 57 tools become available in every session.

Does it crawl my site continuously in the background?

No. Page audits run when you ask for them. Full site crawls run on a schedule you set, or you trigger them manually. There's no background indexing of your content between sessions.

Can I use it for multiple sites?

Yes. You can add multiple domains and connect separate GSC and GA4 properties for each. In a session, specify which site you're asking about and the agent queries the right data source.

What happens to my data?

Tool results are cached per tool: 5 minutes for real-time data, up to 24 hours for analytics reports, to avoid redundant API calls. Audit snapshots stay in your account until you delete them. OAuth tokens are encrypted at rest. We don't sell your data, train on it, or share it.
